Networking anxiety

Some people start with networks. Some do not. That difference matters because it changes how the game of entrepreneurship feels, especially in the early years.

It does not decide your ceiling.

“Your network is your net worth.”

“Relationships are everything.”

Are these truths or just slogans?

The pros

A network can create opportunity.

A network can stabilize opportunity.

A network increases your protection, your context, your access.

It is like armor in a game. You have more HP. You survive more hits.

A network can also give you early corrections, early introductions, and early credibility.

It can reduce avoidable mistakes and lower the cost of learning.

The cons

It requires work to maintain a network.

Founders can be introverted or focused on building rather than socializing.

It can feel unnatural if you approach it the wrong way.

Most founders will tell you these slogans are only partially true. You do not need a network at the start, but having one will always make the path easier. Networks can only help. So fight your inner social anxiety and build one. Not for shortcuts. Not for image. Not for status. But because it reduces avoidable difficulty and gives you people to think with.

But remember your starting point affects the experience, not the possibility.
